It's UR Birthday

Couldn't wait to dive into the new Card Patterns sketch for this week, sketch # 83... I felt very honored and privileged to make the top 6 last week.. Here is my take on the sketch, I used some Crate PP that just grabs my heart, the colors are soo summery and fun, I LOVE it.. and of course I just had to throw on some bling.. what's a finished card without bling right??

A Sassy B-Day

Well with the scraps of Sassafras Indie Girl, I thought well now I just gotta make a card.. So here is one with the latest 2S4Y sketch this week. LOVE how she added a fun shape into the mix of the card.. I inked the white flower just so it would add a nice splash of blue onto the card since I couldn't find any blue ones that were just the right shade...

Family Fun

Unfortunately this is not the best picture I could get of this page, I promise it's better IRL... I can not get used to the time change and it getting darker earlier.. I'm such a summer girl at heart, I already miss it, thank goodness it's staying warmer a bit longer.. I'll take it!!
Well here is my take on the right side of the sketchy Thursdays 9.23 sketch. I wanted to et the whole 2 pager done, but I didn't have all my photos printed and I got this done tonight. I LOVE photo booths and I always have us get our photos taken whenever we see one. These are from bowling a couple of weeks ago on our mini family getaway up to Park City. It was sooo nice.. I used some Indie Girl Sassafras.. which I heart... the colors, the patterns, love it all.. It's been sitting here, staring me in the eye with puppy dogs eyes.. saying please use me!!! LOL...

Vintage Birthday Card

This month over at MSW, Lucy had a really cool vintage sketch card contest this month. I ended up playing along too. I'm not much of a vintage girl, but I LOVE how it looks, and what others can do with it.. Here is my take on it. I have lots of distressing, sanding, and muted colors and lace.. I guess to me the card has a vintage feel..

Thinking of U 2Day

I love the concept of openness and lots of play room from the newest 2s4y sketch this week and here is my take on it.. I already have someone in mind that this is going to and can't wait to send it out.. I used a couple of lines form Echo Park here and mixed and matched some alphas.. but I have to say.. I'm just sucker for those trees.. They are super fun.

I found some clear water dots and used them on the butterfly just to add an extra touch and make it pop.

Today You...

Today You.... I just LOVE this card and had to use it for a card in some way.. I was trying to think of the right sentiment for the person I'm sending it to. It's my aunt, who is amazing, and lives far away, and need lots of love and hugs right now..So I'm going to be sending her this card with some photos of a recent visit that we made out to cali... I used the Mojo Monday sketch 157 for this card and the Echo Park Sweet Summertime line....

Happy Birthday Birdie.

So I'm going to have to go with, aqua is kinda my fave color for scrappin right now.. LOVE how it's bold, fun, reminds me of summer-water-and the beach.. can't ask for more than that.. I used that with some lime green-yum on this birthday card. I used card patterns # 82 for this card, and the Echo Park Walk in Park line.. isn't the birdie too cute?? I like him.

Pinwheels and White Space

A pinwheel focal point.. that's what this card is all about. I'm not ready to give up summer time yet.. Here is my take on the sketch for 365 card challenge blog from sketchy Sunday Day 203. I used Echo Park Walk in a Park line and the super cool Imaginisce brad making tool to make a coordinating center brad for my pinwheel.. love that thing!!!!
Here is my card for Day # 204 the white space day at 365 card challenge blog.. I've copied down sooo many of the white space challenges and only done a couple. I LOVE the concept and just had to use it this round.. so here is my take on it with the Echo Park Sweet Summertime line.. I just adore the alphas...

It's UR day card

I am SUCH a sucker for banners right now, still LOVE them.. and the new IC Card sketch was perfect to play along with this week.. it had a banner!!! so here is my card, I just LOVE the trees from the Walk in a Park line, and the butterflies.. both of which make me smile.

Echo Park - Everybody Loves Christmas

Girl Legos: Last year we found some fun girl legos, that Sydney had been asking for. She wanted her own set, since Austin was always playing with his. So we found these and they made the cutest lil house, girls and puppies.. sooo cute!!! I used the Everybody Loves Christmas line for this page, I LOVE it.. I really LOVE it.... the colors are sooo fun and love the mix of embellies and alphas.... I also used the ScrapRoom sketch of the week last week for this page.. But can I say how fun the ornaments are in this line? perfect for hanging...

Countdown to Christmas: I used the Sketch Inspirations sketch # 141 to create this page. I have to say the stickers with this line are soooo adorable and fun. Cute lil snowmen, a tree to decorate and a Christmas ornament banner... Here are some photos of the kids decorating the tree last year.

B-Day Wishes

I couldn't let this adorable sketch pass me by from Mojo Monday this week and had to play along.. LOVE the idea of love of mixed paper strips on the card. Here is my take with this weeks sketch. I also used the Echo Park Life is Good line, which I have to say look all all those MIXED fun patterns!!! I love it!!!

Note 2 U.

Ok so I'm lovin this Echo Park Life is Good line and hope fun and versatile it is... Great patterns and colors, what more could a girl ask for. Here is another birthday card, yes I was on a roll last night, and used the 2 sketches 4 U sketch this week, sketch #61.. I always am a sucker for a great card sketch and those ladies are talented over there... I also love the scallop frame from the sticker die cuts.. what a fun touch it adds.

UR Special Day

Here is another birthday card that I used the Echo Park Life is Good line from to create this card with. I LOVE the mix and colors of blues in this line, and the mix of chocolate.. I mean brown!! (see what's on my mind!!) I also used the Card Patterns sketch # 81 for this card also...

Happy Birthday Day 196

well it's been awhile since I've updated my birthday card giving stash so I got on a roll last night getting some new cards made. I used the Sunday sketch from 365 card challenge blog and created this card with the Echo Park Life is Good line.. which I love.. I used the papers to make some pleats and add some texture on the card and here it is:

Taking Themey Papers and Using them on Everyday Pages

Here is an article that I wrote for the Croppin Paradise newsletter....

I happen to be a big sucker for themey papers that come out. Halloween is always a favorite of mine, just because I know I take lots of photos, and Christmas, I LOVE to use it to make cards, and always have a boat load of photos to scrap. But how many times do you look at themey papers and just think, but I don’t have many Easter photos, or I don’t take pictures are Valentines? So why should I buy themey papers? For this article, I did just that. I took themey papers, and grabbed my most recent stack of printed pictures, all from this summer, and used some of the latest released themey papers. For these two pages I used the Echo Park Happy Halloween papers to create two totally different pages. The top one is some photos of my kids and nephews that we took at the baseball game we went to in July. I looked at the colors in my nephews shirt and saw it worked perfectly with the colors in the Halloween lines. That is a great way to stretch themey papers: use photos with coordinating colors.

This second page also used the Echo Park Happy Halloween line, the colors of my son’s shirt AND the lighting in the background matched the papers perfectly. This was a photo that was taken while we ate dinner out one night. Now even though the skulls are kinda more Halloween, it works with boy pages. Also I used the haunted house gate sticker, to add some texture on the page as an accent. So: See what patterns match with your photos to coordinate.

This page used the super fun Everybody Loves Christmas line from Echo Park. This line has lots of non traditional colors: pinks, aqua, lime green, and yellows. It made it very easy to create a non themey layout. I even used the Merry sticker for my title “Merry Smiles” and the “Joy” sticker to add onto my page for fun accents. So don’t be afraid to USE some of the themey embellies and just add them onto your page.

For the brad flower centers, I used the Imaginisce brad maker.. which is SUCH a cool fun tool, you are create and make your own brads from your paper or stickers and coordinate with the papers you are working with!!!!

Now this line was probably the hardest to not create a themey page, since I used the VERY traditional Merry Christmas line from Echo Park. I choose to just stick with the reds and browns, instead of adding too much green, so my page didn’t look too Christmas related. The photo is one of the kids at a miniature golf park, but I love the browns and how they add lots of richness on the page. I even used the snowflake paper to make a ribbon pleat, but you can hardly tell with a non themey page, that’s what I used. The circle with the wording “4ever” is actually an ornament without the ornament top showing on it.

I even created two Happy Birthday cards with the left over scraps from the two Christmas lines that I used. Both cards have themey elements, but don’t have an overall themey feel to them, so they can be used for just about any occasion. The snowflake on the bottom one can be pulled off as just a flower accent, and the top card just has a rich color feel about it, instead of screaming holidays and Christmas.
Using Everybody LOVES Christmas Echo Park:

So, next time you see those themey lines, just remember, you can always stretch your papers and embellies and use them for more than just holiday pages and cards. Have fun creating..

Noel

Man, I haven't blogged for awhile, it's just been kinda crazy around here and the sad thing is that I haven't gotten much of a chance to scrap either. The beginning of the year is always hard with the kids back in school, homework schedules, soccer practices and games and trying to get back into the swing on things. Well here is a page I got done this afternoon. A Christmas page too... crazy eh? but I'm not ready for Christmas, winter or cold. I used the 9.9 Sketchy Thursdays Sketch for this one and used the very traditional Merry Christmas line from Echo Park, which totally worked perfectly with the photo of the kids from last Christmas.
